The development of permanent magnet motors is closely related to the development of permanent magnet materials. China is the first country in the world to discover the magnetic properties of permanent magnetic materials and apply them to practice. More than 2000 years ago, China made a compass using the magnetic properties of permanent magnetic materials, which played a huge role in navigation, military and other fields, and became one of China's ancient the Four Great Inventions.
There are various types of permanent magnet motors. According to the function of the motor, it can be roughly divided into two categories: permanent magnet generators and permanent magnet motors.
Permanent magnet motors can also be divided into permanent magnet DC motors and permanent magnet AC motors. The permanent magnet AC motor refers to a multiphase synchronous motor with a permanent magnet rotor, so it is often referred to as a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM).
Permanent magnet DC motors can be divided into permanent magnet brushless DC motors and permanent magnet brushless DC motors (BLDCM) based on the presence or absence of electric motors and commutators.
